I'm Cindy, the person behind Cindy Builds Websites. This policy explains, in plain English, what information this website collects, why, and what I do with it. Short version: I only collect what you choose to send me, I use it to reply to you, and I don't sell it to anyone.
1. Information you send me
When you fill out the contact form on this site, you may voluntarily share:
- Your name and email address
- Your business or creator name
- Your existing website address, if you have one
- A description of the project or help you're looking for
- An optional budget or project range
You don't have to provide any of this, but I can't respond to an inquiry without at least a name, an email, and a note about what you need.
2. Information collected automatically
This site is hosted by Netlify. Like most web hosts, Netlify may automatically log basic technical information when you visit — such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, and the time of your visit — for security, performance, and troubleshooting purposes. I don't use that information to identify you personally. You can read about Netlify's practices in the Netlify Privacy Policy.
3. Cookies and analytics
This website does not use analytics tools, advertising trackers, or tracking cookies. I haven't installed Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or anything similar. If I add an analytics tool in the future, I'll update this policy to say so and describe what it collects.
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests font files from Google's servers when the page loads. Google may receive standard request data (such as your IP address) as part of that request. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
4. Why I collect information
I collect the information described above to:
- Respond to your inquiry and talk with you about your project
- Prepare a proposal or quote if you ask for one
- Keep the website running securely and reliably
That's it. I don't use your contact information for marketing emails or newsletters unless you specifically ask to receive them.
5. How contact inquiries are used
Form submissions are delivered to me through Netlify Forms and forwarded to my email inbox. I read them personally and reply personally. If we go on to work together, your project information becomes part of our working relationship and is governed by the written agreement between us.
6. AI chat assistant
This site includes an optional "Ask Cindy" chat assistant. If you use it, the messages you type are sent to Anthropic (the company behind the Claude AI model) to generate a reply, together with the earlier messages in that same conversation. I don't store chat transcripts on my own systems, and the conversation is cleared when you leave or refresh the page. Please don't share sensitive personal or financial information in the chat — if you want to reach me, use the contact form, email, or phone instead. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy for how they handle data.
7. How long I keep information
I keep inquiry information for as long as it's useful for responding to you and for reasonable record-keeping — typically up to two years after our last contact, or longer if we become client and designer and the information is part of our project records. You can ask me to delete your inquiry at any time (see “Contact” below).
8. Third-party service providers
I use a small number of trusted services to run this website:
- Netlify — hosting, HTTPS, and form handling (privacy policy)
- Google Fonts — web fonts (privacy policy)
- Anthropic — powers the AI chat assistant (privacy policy)
- My email provider — for receiving and replying to inquiries
These providers only receive the information necessary to provide their service. I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.
9. Links to other websites
This site links to other websites, including client sites in my portfolio and social media profiles. I'm not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites. Please check their policies if you have questions.
10. Data security
This site is served over HTTPS, and form submissions are transmitted securely to Netlify. I take reasonable steps to protect the information you share, but no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, so I can't promise absolute security.
11. Children's privacy
This website is intended for adults and business owners. I don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through this site, please contact me and I'll delete it.
12. Your choices
You can contact me at any time to ask what information I have about you, request a correction, or ask me to delete it. Just send me a note using the email address below.
13. Changes to this policy
If I change how this site handles information — for example, by adding analytics — I'll update this page and change the effective date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
